Speckled wood (Pararge aegeria)
The speckled wood butterfly belongs to the family of nymphalidae. It has a wingspan of between 30 and 45 mm. The upper side of the butterfly’s wings is dark brown in color. The spots on the upper side are light yellow in males and whitish in females. They also have small black eyes. The woodland brown butterfly can be found in North Africa and Europe as far as Asia Minor.



Ringlet (Aphantopus hyperantus)
The ringlet belongs to the family of nymphalidae. It has a wingspan of between 30 and 45 mm. The upper and lower sides of the butterfly’s wings are dark brown in color. The black eye spots on the upper side are surrounded by a light yellow border in both males and females. They also have small black eyes. The brown forest bird can be found throughout Europe and in the temperate latitudes of Asia.




Arran brown (Erebia ligea)
The arran brown butterfly belongs to the family of nymphalidae. It has a wingspan of between 42 and 54 mm. The upper and lower sides of the butterfly’s wings are dark brown in color. The black eye spots on the upper side are surrounded by an orange band in both males and females. The eye spots have a white spot in the middle. On the underside, the eye spots are surrounded by an orange border. The arran brown can be found throughout Europe.
